Project 10073 Record — Sighting of Unidentified Phenomena, Maysville, Kentucky, 5 February 1968

This document contains the official Project Blue Book record for a UFO sighting reported on February 5, 1968, in Maysville, Kentucky. The primary witness, a dispatcher for the Maysville Police Department, reported observing a stationary object for approximately 30 minutes. The witness described the object as being larger and brighter than the North Star, noting that it appeared to change colors, specifically red, blue, green, and white. The witness further specified that the object had no visible wings or protrusions and appeared round. The sighting occurred while the witness was on patrol in a police vehicle. The official conclusion reached by the Aerial Phenomena Office, signed by Major Hector Quintanilla, Jr., was that the object was likely the star Arcturus, noting that at the beginning of the sighting, the star was at an elevation of approximately 25 degrees and an azimuth of 84 degrees.
