UFO Observation Report — Lorain, Ohio, September 1967

This document file contains correspondence regarding a UFO sighting reported in Lorain, Ohio, in September 1967. The initial report was made by a railroad worker to the Lorain County Veterans Service Office. The Relief Officer, Charles H. Pritt, wrote to the Air Force on September 7, 1967, stating that the witness, who was of sound mind, had observed a 'flying saucer' while working on the railroad. The witness was accompanied by three other individuals at the time of the sighting. The witness expressed a desire to report the incident to the proper authorities but requested that his identity remain confidential and that no publicity be generated. On September 18, 1967, Colonel James C. Manatt of the Director of Technology and Subsystems responded to the witness, acknowledging the report and requesting that the witness complete an FTD Form 164 to facilitate a scientific investigation. The Air Force assured the witness that his name would not be released to the news media without his permission. The accompanying project record form indicates that the case was ultimately classified as 'INSUFFICIENT DATA' due to a lack of further information.
