UFO Observation Report — Barstow, California, September 1967

This document collection details a UFO sighting reported in Barstow, California, on September 14, 1967. A civilian witness reported observing an object with flashing lights for approximately 7 to 15 minutes. The witness described the object as having a saucer shape, roughly the size of two small airplanes, with lights alternating between white and blue, and noted the presence of at least two red lights. The witness reported no sound and stated that the object moved slowly before disappearing south of Barstow. The Air Force initiated a command post checklist to verify the observation, contacting Edwards Tower, Edwards Rapcon, the Range Duty Officer at Point Mugu, and the 27th Air Division (ADC). These checks yielded no unusual activity, identifying only a C-47 aircraft over Barstow at 0303Z. Consequently, the official conclusion for the incident was 'Probable Aircraft (C-47).' The Foreign Technology Division (FTD) deemed the initial report insufficient for a scientific investigation and sent correspondence to the witness requesting the completion of a formal FTD Form 164. The witness, who expressed that they and their neighbors had seen similar objects multiple times, did not return the requested form.
