This document contains a Project 10073 record regarding a UFO sighting reported in Lakewood, Colorado, on September 30, 1967, at 0345Z. A civilian witness observed a single, reddish-orange object described as being 'like a large pea.' The observation lasted for 30 seconds, during which the object traveled in a south to southeasterly direction before stopping. The report notes that no photographs or physical evidence were obtained. Following the initial report, Headquarters at the Lowry Technical Training Center conducted an assessment. In a memorandum dated October 1, 1967, signed by Colonel Clyde L. Harvey, Jr., the Air Force concluded that the object was most likely a plastic container with candles installed to provide lift, noting that such items were known to have been released in the vicinity of the reported sighting. The correspondence was directed to several entities, including the Secretary of the Air Force, the University of Colorado (Dr. Condon), and the Foreign Technology Division.
