Project 10073 Record: UFO Observation, 25 August 1967, Rochester, New York

This document contains the investigation records for a UFO sighting reported by a 15-year-old civilian in Rochester, New York, on August 25, 1967. The witness reported observing four round, white, soundless objects moving across the sky between 8:40 PM and 9:50 PM. The witness provided detailed sketches and descriptions, noting that the objects appeared as lights, some steady and some blinking, and that they moved in various directions including North, Southeast, and Northwest. The witness compared the brightness to a star and noted the objects were silent. The Air Force's Foreign Technology Division (FTD) initiated an investigation, requesting further information from the witness via FTD Form 164. Simultaneously, the FTD contacted the FAA Control Tower at the Rochester Municipal Airport to determine if any aircraft were in the area at the time of the sighting. Loren E. Wagner, Chief of the Rochester Combined Station Tower, responded on October 9, 1967, stating that a review of flight progress strips indicated that jet aircraft with blinking white lights were in the area at the time of the report. The case was subsequently closed with the conclusion that the observed objects were likely these jet aircraft.
