Project 10073 Record — Meadow Vista, California, 31 July 1967

This document is a Project 10073 record concerning a UFO sighting reported by a civilian in Meadow Vista, California. The observation occurred on 31 July 1967 at 12:30. The witness described a single, solid object that appeared as a rusty red light with fuzzy, blurred edges. The object was observed for approximately 30 seconds and moved in a very irregular path toward the southeast. The witness estimated the speed of the object at 100 mph. The witness noted that the object had no distinct sound. The Air Force Foreign Technology Division (FTD) investigated the report and requested clarification from the witness regarding a discrepancy in the date of the sighting, as the initial report stated 31 July 1967, while a subsequent questionnaire indicated 24 July 1967. The witness confirmed in a handwritten note that the correct date was 31 July 1967. The official conclusion reached by the Air Force was that the object was a 'Possible (SATELLITE)'.
