Project 10073 Record — Tuscon, Arizona, 15 March 1967

This document consists of a Project 10073 record and associated Air Force incoming messages regarding a UFO sighting in Tuscon, Arizona, on March 15, 1967. A single civilian witness reported observing a circular, baseball-sized object that appeared white to red in color. The witness described the object as having 'red dripping like fire' and reported that it moved from the Northwest to the Southeast at 45 degrees before disappearing. The observation lasted approximately four to five minutes. The weather conditions at the time were clear with many stars and a quarter crescent moon. Major Richard D. Rush, the Base Operations Officer at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, conducted a telephone interview with the witness. He reported that the witness was reluctant to provide additional information and that her reliability could not be accurately estimated. Major Rush suggested that the sighting might be attributable to a flare dropped from an F4C aircraft, noting that several flare-carrying aircraft were airborne in the area during the time of the sighting, although he explicitly stated that this explanation could not be confirmed.
