Project 10073 Record — Coursegold, California Sighting

This document consists of a Project 10073 record and an associated Air Force staff message regarding a series of UFO sightings near Coursegold, California. The primary witness, a civilian resident, reported observing pulsating, glowing lights that shifted between white, red, and green. These objects were noted to remain stationary on a nearby ridge and were capable of rapid movement in any direction, often exceeding the speed of observed jet aircraft. One witness reported seeing a rectangular object with bright lights at the corners. The sightings, which reportedly began in the fall of 1960, saw a sudden increase in frequency in the three weeks leading up to the report in October 1966. On October 23, 1966, the witness observed three objects simultaneously, which appeared to move in formation. The witness, described by interviewing officers as calm and intelligent, communicated with other neighbors and a school teacher in Oakhurst, California, regarding these events. Despite the detailed descriptions provided by the witness, the Air Force concluded that there was insufficient data for a formal evaluation, noting that required information from Castle AFB had not been received as per AFR 80-17.
