On October 6, 1966, at approximately 1500Z, a civilian witness in Woodbridge, Virginia, observed an unidentified aerial phenomenon. The witness reported seeing a silvery-colored object for a duration of about one minute before it disappeared behind some trees. The witness noted that the object appeared to have a visible window, but expressed uncertainty regarding the object's overall shape. When asked to compare the object's brightness to a common item, the witness identified it as being like a 'Kennedy 1/2 Dollar (Silvery).' The witness reported that the object made no sound and did not exhibit any unusual flight characteristics such as sudden speed changes or breaking apart. The witness was outdoors in a residential section of the city at the time of the sighting. The U.S. Air Force investigation concluded that there was insufficient data for evaluation, citing a total lack of information regarding the azimuth of the object's appearance and disappearance, as well as the witness's inability to confirm the object's shape.
