Project 10073 Record — Sighting Report, Wilmington, Ohio, 28 September 1966

This document contains a Project 10073 record regarding an unidentified aerial phenomenon sighting reported on September 28, 1966. A civilian witness, while driving on I-70 near the junction of routes 68 and I-70 in Ohio, observed three round-oval objects in the eastern sky for approximately 90 seconds. The witness described the objects as having an apparent ring around them, which would rotate at different angles. The witness noted that the objects were aluminum in color and made no sound. One of the objects, described as the highest, varied its altitude but remained within an estimated 100 feet of the other two objects. The witness lost sight of the objects after passing under them. Following the report, the Air Force contacted Clinton County AFB. Base operations and the GCA (Ground Controlled Approach) unit reported no unusual observations, noting only one aircraft in the area at 1535 local time, which did not match the witness's report of three objects. Major Hector Quintanilla, Jr., Chief of Project Blue Book, initially informed the witness that the provided information was insufficient for evaluation and requested the completion of an FTD Form 164. The witness subsequently completed the questionnaire, providing additional details about the sighting, including sketches of the objects' motion and configuration.
