Project 10073 Record: Sighting near Franklin, Texas, 18 September 1966

This document contains a Project Blue Book record regarding a UFO sighting reported by a former USAF member and his wife on 18 September 1966. The witnesses, while traveling on U.S. Highway 79, 14 miles north of Franklin, Texas, observed two objects for over six hours. The objects were described as emitting red, orange, and blue light, and were connected by a beam of light. The witnesses reported that the objects moved in precise, erratic patterns, including moving backward, upward, and downward, and that they appeared to be moving at an 'incredible speed.' The witnesses also noted that the objects would undulate and that the less bright object would fade from sight when the beam of light was darkened. The report includes a completed U.S. Air Force technical information questionnaire, a hand-drawn sketch of the objects' movements, and correspondence from Major Hector Quintanilla, Jr., requesting further information. The official conclusion of the investigation was that the sighting was an astronomical observation, noting that weather balloons were in the area at the time.
