Project 10073 Record: Harlingen, Texas Sighting Report

This document comprises a series of reports and an incoming Air Force message regarding a sequence of sightings in Harlingen, Texas, between August 6 and September 5, 1966. The primary witness, identified as a resident of a fairly isolated home in the southwest part of Harlingen, reported multiple encounters involving an object described as an 'upside down cup' or 'saucer' hovering approximately 15 feet above the ground near an orange tree. The object was associated with a low humming sound, a square yellow light, and electromagnetic interference that caused a television to malfunction. Additionally, the witness and his children reported seeing a small person, approximately 3 to 4 feet tall, dressed in black or white form-fitting clothing, appearing near the house or in a bedroom. On one occasion, a 'bar of light' was observed in a bedroom. Despite these reports, an investigation by Lt. Col. Athey and a report compiled by R. A. Stramoski concluded that there was insufficient information for a formal evaluation. Radar logs from the period showed no corresponding phenomena, and no physical evidence was found to substantiate the claims, other than three or four green oranges found on the ground beneath the hover site. The Air Force noted that additional information requested from the family was never received.
