Project 10073 Record: UFO Sighting, Conroe, Texas, 7 July 1966

This document contains a collection of records regarding a UFO sighting reported by a 17-year-old civilian in Conroe, Texas. The primary incident occurred on the night of 7 July 1966, when three observers in a canoe on Grand Lake witnessed an object moving from the northwest toward the east, before turning toward the southern horizon. The witness initially described the object as having one large white light on the front and three steady red lights on the trailing edge, accompanied by a low humming sound described as being like an electric motor. The witness also reported that the object projected rays of light into the darkness. However, the Air Force's evaluation of the report, conducted under Project 10073, noted significant conflicting data. In a subsequent letter dated 15 January 1967, the witness claimed that no red or green lights were visible, contradicting the earlier report. Furthermore, the witness reported a second sighting on 27 January 1967. The Air Force correspondence, signed by Lt. Colonel George P. Freeman, Jr., indicates that the information provided was insufficient for a scientific evaluation and requested that the witness complete an FTD Form 164.
