On June 18, 1966, at approximately 0310Z, a civilian witness in Blacklick, Ohio, observed an unidentified aerial phenomenon. The witness reported seeing a single light that appeared to move up, down, and to the sides, while consistently returning to its original position. The witness described the color of the object as red and white, changing to orange, and noted that there was no sound associated with the object. The observation occurred under clear, dry weather conditions. The witness reported the sighting to a Captain Jordan at the 840th Command Post on the same day. Following the report, the Air Force sent a questionnaire to the witness, which was completed and returned. The official investigation, conducted by Captain James D. Ballsmith of the U.S. Air Force, concluded that the sighting was likely an aircraft. The investigation determined that both military and civil aircraft were operating in the vicinity in the general direction reported by the witness, and the description provided was consistent with that of an aircraft.
