This document contains the official Project Blue Book record for an unidentified aerial phenomenon sighting reported in Vineland, New Jersey, on May 30, 1966. The witness, a 16-year-old, observed a single, round, very bright white object moving eastward for approximately 11 seconds. The witness described the object as having a shimmering quality and noted that it appeared to 'immaterialize' into thin air. The witness reported the incident to the Willow Grove Naval Air Station. Following the initial report, Major Hector Quintanilla, Jr., Chief of Project Blue Book, sent a letter to the witness on June 6, 1966, stating that the information provided was insufficient for evaluation and requesting that the witness complete an attached FTD Form 164. The witness subsequently completed the questionnaire, providing additional details about the sighting, including the lack of sound and the object's appearance. The official conclusion reached by the Air Force for this incident was that the object was an 'Astro (Meteor),' noting that the description was consistent with a meteor sighting.
