Project Blue Book Record: Columbiana, Ohio Sighting

This document contains the Project Blue Book record for a UFO sighting reported in Columbiana, Ohio, in May 1966. The primary source is a letter from a seventh-grade student at Columbiana High School who described observing three or four blinking, flashing lights, each approximately the size of a car. The witness reported that these objects moved across the sky, passing over tree tops before speeding up and disappearing over a factory. The observation occurred at 1:00 o'clock in the morning. Major Hector Quintanilla, Jr., Chief of Project Blue Book, responded to the witness on May 11, 1966, noting that the initial report was insufficient for evaluation. The Air Force provided the witness with an FTD Form 164 to collect more detailed information and included a brochure on Project Blue Book. The official conclusion recorded on the case file is 'INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR EVALUATION,' as the witness did not return the requested form within the 30-day window.
