Project 10073 Record — UFO Sighting, Teaneck, New Jersey, 11 April 1966

On 11 April 1966, at approximately 2047 local time, a civilian couple traveling east on Route 4 between Paramus and Teaneck, New Jersey, observed two unidentified objects. The witnesses described the objects as circular, white in color, and changing to a dull red. The objects were vertically stacked and projected beams of light, which the witnesses compared to aircraft landing lights. The objects were initially observed at an elevation of 30 degrees above the horizon to the northeast, moving south. The flight path was described as a glide-path descent, followed by a sudden stop, the lights switching off and then back on, and finally a reversal of course into a climbing attitude. The observation lasted for approximately five minutes before the objects were obscured by the horizon as the witnesses' vehicle continued its journey. The weather conditions were reported as cold and clear with good visibility. The report was processed by the 4603D Air Base Group (ADC) at Stewart Air Force Base and forwarded to Hq AFSC (TDEW) under the provisions of AFR 200-2. The investigating officer, Lt. T. S. Waller of the 4713th Defense Systems Evaluation Squadron, concluded that the phenomena observed were likely an aircraft.
