UFO Sighting Report — Alto, Tennessee, 5 April 1966

This document details a UFO sighting that occurred on 5 April 1966 near Alto, Tennessee. Three civilian witnesses reported observing a single object for approximately two hours and thirty minutes. The object was described as oval-shaped while stationary and cone-shaped when in motion, with a bright yellow-orange lower portion, a darker upper section, and a horizontal white streak through the middle. The witnesses reported that the object emitted a high-frequency hum and moved eastward parallel to high-voltage power lines before turning south. The sighting was accompanied by significant reactions from local livestock, including cows, dogs, and ponies, which were reported to be highly disturbed, with some animals breaking out of their enclosures. The investigating officer, a Major from the Technical Support Division, conducted a site visit and interviewed the witnesses, who were deemed reliable. Geiger counters were used at the scene, yielding negative results. Despite the investigation, the Air Force concluded that there was no explanation for the sighting.
