Project 10073 Record: Sighting Report - Moorestown, New Jersey, 31 March 1966

This document contains a Project Blue Book sighting report from Moorestown, New Jersey, dated 31 March 1966. The witness, a 13-year-old male, reported observing a slow-moving object in the sky at approximately 8:45 P.M. while taking out the trash. He described the object as being approximately 60 feet wide, moving from north to south at an altitude of 100 feet and a speed of 30 m.p.h. The witness noted that the object made no sound and appeared to be composed of several glass-like plates held together with red lights. He observed the red light dim and then 'engulf' the object as it went off. A few seconds after the sighting, the witness noted a plane in the area. The witness completed an Air Force technical information questionnaire, noting that he had read 15 books on the subject of UFOs and expressed that he was scared by the experience. He also mentioned that his friends teased him about his interest in the subject. The official conclusion recorded by Major Hector Quintanilla, Jr. of Project Blue Book was that the object was a 'Possible (AIRCRAFT)', noting that no data was presented to indicate the object could not have been an aircraft. The file includes correspondence from Major Quintanilla to the witness, dated 21 June 1966, requesting further information via an FTD Form 164.
