Project 10073 Record — Farmington, Illinois, 26 February 1966

This document consists of a Project 10073 record and a follow-up letter regarding a UFO sighting that occurred on February 26, 1966, in Farmington, Illinois. The observer, identified as Steven Brown, reported a red, glowing object that appeared suddenly near his automobile. According to the report, the object circled the car twice, coming within eight feet of the moving vehicle, before fading away in a northerly direction. The observer also noted hearing a distinct sound of something striking his car. The official conclusion recorded by the Air Force was that there was insufficient data for a proper evaluation. A follow-up letter dated March 11, 1966, from Major Hector Quintanilla, Jr., Chief of Project Blue Book, was sent to Mr. Brown at his Peoria, Illinois address.
