Project 10073 Record — Keno AFS, Oregon, 2 October 1965

On October 2, 1965, at 1230Z, a ground-visual sighting of two unidentified objects was reported near Keno AFS, Oregon. The report, filed under Project 10073, describes two distinct objects. The first object was observed as round and white, approximately the size of a satellite, with no tail or trail. It traveled in a straight course from East to West and was observed for four minutes before disappearing over the Western horizon. The second object was also round but was described as being covered with flame or fire, specifically orange in color. It possessed a trail approximately twice as long as the object itself. This second object traveled in a straight line from North to South, crossing the flight path of the first object a short distance behind it. The second object was observed approximately one minute after the first. The incident occurred during clear weather conditions. The official conclusion provided by the Air Force investigators categorized the objects as an aircraft and a meteor. The report was processed by the 322 Fighter Interceptor Squadron, with an advance copy delivered to the Defense Intelligence Agency.
