UFO Sighting Report — Goshen, New York, 28 September 1965

This document is a formal Air Force report regarding a UFO sighting that occurred on September 28, 1965, in Goshen, New York. The report, filed under Project 10073, details an observation made by a civilian witness and his wife between 0130 and 0140Z. The witness described a large, circular object with a conical top, featuring a row of steady red lights on its circumference and green lights on the top left surface. The object reportedly hovered, performed right-angle maneuvers, and emitted a low whistling sound, along with a brief burst of collimated white light from underneath. The observation lasted approximately 10 minutes under clear, calm weather conditions. The investigating officer, 1st Lt. Roger B. Tyrrell, concluded that the report was unreliable. This assessment was based on the witness's poor reliability rating and his personal interest in UFO literature, which the investigator noted influenced the witness's ability to describe the event. The report was forwarded by Lt. Col. John N. Johnson, III, to Hq AFSC (TDEW) in accordance with Air Force Regulation 200-2.
