UFO Sighting Reports — July 1965

This document contains two incoming Air Force messages regarding UFO sightings reported in July 1965. The first report, dated July 27, 1965, details a sighting in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, by an amateur astronomer. The witness observed two objects, described as the size of a large star, appearing 15 minutes apart. The first object was steady, while the second was flashing. The reporting officer suggested that the first object may have been a meteorite, given the time of year, but concluded that the second object remained unexplained. The second report, dated July 13, 1965, concerns a sighting in Charleston, South Carolina, by a student at The Citadel. The witness described a star-shaped, silver object the size of a pinhead that moved from the northwest to the south before disappearing. The preparing officer for this second report expressed skepticism, noting that the same subject had reported a UFO previously and that all agency checks were negative, leading to the opinion that the information was doubtful.
