UFO Investigation Report — 24 February 1965, Webb AFB, Texas

On 24 February 1965, at approximately 0120Z, Captain Wilber Brown and 2/Lt John R. Marsden, both of the 3561st Pilot Training Wing, were flying a T-38 aircraft at 22,500 feet on a night transition mission. While positioned approximately 42 nautical miles southeast of Webb AFB, Texas, the pilots observed a round, bright, blinking white light at their 11 o'clock position, at an elevation of 10 degrees. The object appeared to be the size of a dime held at arm's length. Initially stationary, the object blinked on and off approximately three times. When the pilots turned their aircraft toward the object and accelerated to .95 Mach, the object accelerated at a very high rate of speed in a north-westerly direction, diminishing in intensity until it disappeared from sight within three to four seconds. The total duration of the sighting was approximately three minutes. An investigation conducted by Major Robert B. Dittemer included inquiries with local civilian authorities, the TFX Test Center at Fort Worth, and the Sweetwater Air Force Station. None of these entities reported any unusual aircraft, radar contacts, or weather balloons in the area at the time of the incident. The investigation concluded that no explanation could be provided for the phenomenon based on the available information.
