PROJECT 10073 RECORD CARD - Sighting Report 28 May 1964

On May 28, 1964, a civilian witness in Los Angeles, California, reported observing an unidentified aerial phenomenon from a fifth-floor apartment near the Sunset Strip. The witness, acting on the suggestion of the Los Angeles Police Department, submitted a report to the 15th Air Force Command Base. The witness described seeing three circular lights in a horizontal row, which initially appeared to be a giant aircraft heading toward a building. The witness reported that the lights were stationary, then moved at right angles before disappearing. The lights were described as having a greenish glow. The witness expressed significant fear during the event, noting that they were frozen and unable to move. The Air Force investigated the report under Project 10073. The official conclusion reached by the Air Force was that the sighting was consistent with the reflection of searchlight activity on a low-level fog bank. Correspondence from the 22nd Bombardment Wing (SAC) at March Air Force Base indicates that attempts to contact the witness by telephone were unsuccessful, and that the delay in receiving the report had negated the possibility of further exploitation. The report was forwarded to the Air Force Systems Command Foreign Technology Division at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for evaluation in accordance with AFR 200-2.
