Project 10073 Record Card — Camp Kapitachouane, Canada, 7 August 1963

On August 7, 1963, at approximately 2000 hours Daylight Saving Time, the witness observed an object rising in the south and passing overhead to the north. The witness noted that the object resembled the ECHO satellite but traveled significantly faster and followed a different path. The witness, who identified themselves as a summer resident of the area, wrote to the Office of Educational Programs and Services in Washington, D.C., to inquire about the identity of the object and the status of the ECHO satellite in orbit. The correspondence was subsequently forwarded to the USAF for action. The official USAF evaluation concluded that the sighting was likely a misinterpretation of an aircraft in flight, possibly a high-altitude jet, noting that the object's speed and motion were consistent with such an interpretation.
