Project 10073 Record Card — Six Flags Over Texas Sighting, 15 June 1963

This document collection details the investigation of a UFO sighting reported on 15 June 1963 at the Six Flags Over Texas amusement park. A military officer, serving as a Captain in the Infantry, submitted 13 photographic slides for analysis after capturing images of unidentified objects while riding in a ski-tow type gondola. The initial Project 10073 record card noted that the slides showed several light spots. The Foreign Technology Division (FTD) conducted a formal evaluation of the imagery. Their analysis concluded that the objects were not anomalous, but rather parts of the amusement park equipment. Specifically, the report states that in the series of frames, an object was observed moving upward and to the left across the frames, with a smaller, blurred object attached by a shaft, and a cylindrical, missile-shaped object located below the main body. Because the speed of these objects matched the movement of the gondola, the investigators determined they were likely attached to the equipment in which the photographer was riding. The correspondence includes letters between the photographer, the Foreign Technology Division, and the Pentagon, requesting technical details about the camera (a Bell & Howell Zoomatic) and the conditions of the photography to confirm the analysis. By 22 January 1975, a note was added to the file indicating that the original 16 slides were missing.
