PROJECT 10073 RECORD CARD — 8 April 1963

This document consists of a Project 10073 record card and associated incoming staff messages from the Department of the Air Force regarding a UFO sighting on April 8, 1963. The incident occurred at 2130Z at coordinates 62.26N 10.24W, southeast of Iceland. The witness described a round, star-shaped object, white in color, with a brightness comparable to a second-magnitude star. The object was observed for 13 minutes, moving from the northwest to the southeast. It was noted at an elevation of 20 degrees in the vicinity of the moon and disappeared at an elevation of 45 degrees, eventually being lost in the glow of the moon. The sighting was reported as a visual observation by the naked eye under night conditions with bright moonlight and 9/10 cloud coverage. Military communications, including messages from COMBARFORLANT, confirm the sighting and classify it as a possible satellite. The final conclusion recorded on the project card states that the object was believed to be a possible satellite by the observer and the case was officially listed as such.
