Project 10073 Record Card — Sighting of 20 November 1962, Montevideo, Minnesota

This document contains the official U.S. Air Force record for a UFO sighting reported by a civilian farmer in Montevideo, Minnesota, on 20 November 1962. The witness, who was in his bedroom at his farm home 14 miles north of Montevideo, observed a circular, luminous object moving in level flight from the northwest to the west. The witness described the object as brighter than a full moon on a clear night, noting that it made no sound and left no tail, trail, or exhaust. The observation lasted only a few seconds. The witness initially reported the sighting to the Director of Intelligence at Headquarters U.S.A.F. in Washington, D.C., around 22 November 1962. Following a request for more information from Colonel Edward H. Wynn, the witness completed a U.S. Air Force Technical Information Sheet (AF Form 164) on 2 December 1962. In his detailed account, the witness noted that the object appeared and disappeared so quickly that he had no time for a good look, and that he had previously seen weather balloons and satellites, but this object was unlike those. He speculated that it could be a 'flying saucer.' The Air Force investigation concluded that the event was a meteor sighting.
