AVISTAMIENTO DE FENOMENOS EXTRAÑOS (EXPEDIENTES OVNI) - SAN JAVIER

This document is a compiled intelligence file regarding a series of unidentified aerial phenomena observed near the San Javier Air Base in Spain during August 1962. The file aggregates reports from August 6, 7, and 26. On August 6, the Flight Officer at San Javier observed a powerful, stationary light over Monte Cabezo at an altitude of 500 meters, resembling an aircraft landing light but without a beam. The object subsequently performed rapid lateral and vertical movements impossible for conventional aircraft before descending and moving west toward Lorca. Despite attempts to identify it as a helicopter from the Cartagena helipad, no flights were reported. The phenomenon was observed by multiple personnel, including a meteorology observer using a theodolite and control tower staff using binoculars, yet no defined shape could be discerned. During the observation, a patrol corporal accidentally shot himself in the foot while attempting to watch the object. Subsequent observations on August 7 and 26 showed similar luminous characteristics, though radar contact via EVA 5 was unsuccessful. The intelligence section concluded that the phenomenon remains unexplained, noting the high reliability of the witnesses and the atypical nature of the movements, which were not consistent with conventional aircraft.
