Project 10073 Record Card — 19 June 1952, Fort Benning, Georgia

This document contains a Project 10073 record card and associated correspondence regarding a UFO sighting that occurred on June 19, 1952, at Lawson Army Airfield in Columbus, Georgia. The sighting involved a single, round, silver object observed for approximately one hour and ten minutes starting at 1950 hours. The witnesses, including CWO Moss, Sgt Dunn, and SP4 Jessee, observed the object using 7x50 binoculars and reported no apparent motion. The report notes that the object was viewed against a high cloud covering. The official conclusion reached by the investigating officer, 1st Lt Lawrence D. Sledge, was that the object was the planet Venus, citing its specific azimuth, elevation, and magnitude of -3.1 at the time of the observation. The report explicitly states that the planet did not set until 2225 hours. The documentation includes a transmittal letter from the 2853D Air Base Wing at Robins Air Force Base, dated July 24, 1962, forwarding the reports to the Foreign Technology Division (FTD) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in compliance with Air Force Regulation 200-2.
