Project 10073 Record Card — Sighting Report, 5 October 1960

This document is a Project 10073 record card detailing a civilian sighting of an unidentified aerial phenomenon on October 5, 1960, near Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. The witness reported observing a single object, described as being the size and shape of a grapefruit, with a blue and yellow color. The object appeared to have fire emanating from it and possessed an oblong tailpiece that disconnected from the main body. The witness noted that the object traveled in a southerly direction for approximately 30 seconds before the light in the tailpiece extinguished and the main body was lost in the ambient light from the nearby town of Fairborn. The witness reported that the object made no sound and estimated its speed to be comparable to that of a T-33 aircraft. An analyst attempted to follow up with the witness to obtain more detailed information, but these efforts were unsuccessful. Consequently, the report was officially evaluated as having insufficient data to reach a conclusion.
