Project 10073 Record Card — Stoughton, Massachusetts, 26 Aug 60

This document consists of a Project 10073 record card and associated correspondence regarding a UFO sighting in Stoughton, Massachusetts, on August 26, 1960. A civilian witness reported observing an egg-shaped, silver object at a very low altitude for approximately five to six minutes. The object was described as having a flashing red light on the bottom and several red lights on the top. The witness first observed the object in the northeast, moving toward the southwest, before it performed a 180-degree turn toward the north-northeast and disappeared. The witness estimated the object to be the size of a medium-sized airplane and noted it was traveling at a very fast speed. The witness explicitly stated that there was no sound, no tail or trail, and that the object was not examined with binoculars or telescopes. The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, having received the report, was unable to determine the nature of the observation and forwarded the documentation to the Air Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for further evaluation. The ATIC record card notes that while the witness described the object as having the size of a medium plane, the report lacked sufficient data for a definitive evaluation, though it suggests the maneuvers and lights were notable.
