PROJECT 10073 RECORD CARD - Ankara, Turkey - 23 July 1960

This document consists of a Project 10073 record card and an accompanying letter regarding a UFO sighting in Ankara, Turkey, on July 23, 1960. The witness, a housewife, observed an object while on her balcony at approximately 9:45 PM. The object was described as having a fluorescent, iridescent appearance with a reddish tail approximately 1.5 meters long. The witness estimated the object's diameter at 14 centimeters and noted that it moved at great speed in a horizontal path, lasting between 1.5 and 2 seconds. The witness further reported observing two additional objects in the zenith over the next 20 minutes, which she compared to sliding stars. The author of the letter, who submitted the report to the Department of Defence, Office of Public Information, based his documentation on the ATIC Form A found in Donald E. Keyhoe's book, 'Flying Saucers From Outer Space.' The official conclusion recorded on the ATIC card is that the object was an astronomical meteor, stating that it possessed all the characteristics of such an event and that there was no evidence to suggest otherwise.
