Project 10073 Record Card — Duluth, Minnesota, 27 April 1960

This document is a Project 10073 record card and associated teletype report detailing a UFO sighting that occurred on April 27, 1960, in Duluth, Minnesota. The primary witness, an Air Police officer from the HQ Duluth Air Defense Sector, reported observing a round, dim, yellow light at approximately 0445Z. The witness described the object as being roughly the size of a pea held at arm's length. During the three-and-a-half to four-minute observation, the object was seen to zig-zag, circle, and eventually move straight up. The weather conditions at the time were noted as having thin scattered clouds. A follow-up check with the Duluth Tower, conducted by Captain McKinney, resulted in no corroborating sightings, as the tower reported seeing nothing. The official conclusion reached by the evaluating authorities was that the object was likely a balloon, possibly released from a local air station or weather station in the area. The report was forwarded to NORAD and received by Major A. C. Stanhope on April 29, 1960.
