Project 10073 Record Card — Burgoon, Ohio, 19 December 1959

This document contains a Project 10073 record card and associated correspondence regarding a UFO sighting reported by a civilian in Burgoon, Ohio, on December 19, 1959. The witness, who was walking in the country with another individual, observed an object in the northwest sky at approximately 5:15 P.M. during freezing weather. Initially, the witness believed the object was a jet with a vapor trail, but the trail disappeared as the object descended. The object then changed shape from a ball to a saucer, which appeared to be spinning or tilted. The object hovered in mid-air before a plane flew in front of it. The witness noted that the object was brighter than the plane, made no sound, and eventually disappeared. The witness expressed concern that her family considered her 'nuts' and sought an explanation from the Air Force. The Air Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base reviewed the report. Major Lawrence J. Tacker of the Public Information Division sent a letter to the witness on January 11, 1960, stating that the initial report lacked sufficient information for a valid conclusion. The Air Force requested that the witness complete an official questionnaire to facilitate further analysis. However, the record card indicates that the requested additional information was never received by the organization, leading to the final classification of the case as 'insufficient data for evaluation.'
