Project 10073 Record Card — Benghazi, Libya, 16 February 1959

This document is a Project 10073 record card and accompanying U.S. Air Force Technical Information Sheet detailing a UFO sighting reported by a 20-year-old British soldier in Benghazi, Libya, on February 16, 1959. The witness, who was walking outdoors at 2130 local time, observed a single, round object with a dome and green light vents. He described the object as appearing silvery-blue, changing to a reddish color, and then back again. The witness reported that the object made no sound and was sharply outlined, appearing to be the size of a baseball held at arm's length. He estimated the object's size at 100 feet and its altitude at 10,000 feet, noting that its speed varied from 0 to 500 mph. The object traveled in a north-northwest direction before disappearing. The witness claimed to have seen similar objects at least fifty times previously from his bedroom window in England. The official conclusion recorded on the project card is that the report provided insufficient data for evaluation. The witness completed the questionnaire on September 13, 1959, and explicitly stated his opinion that the object was a flying object.
