Project 10073 Record Card — Uruguay, January 1958

This document contains a sighting report and subsequent investigation by the Centro de Investigacion de Objetos Voladores Inidentificados (CIOVI) regarding an unidentified aerial phenomenon observed in Uruguay in January 1958. The witness, a 32-year-old judicial official, reported observing a small, non-solid object, approximately the size of an orange, which emitted a bluish-white smoke. The object was observed moving from the southeast to the northwest. According to the witness, the object performed a sharp maneuver, descended, and then regained a uniform course before disappearing. The witness noted that the object appeared to be controlled and guided, arguing that an inert object would have succumbed to gravity. CIOVI investigators, while acknowledging the brevity of the observation, deemed the testimony authentic, citing the high quality of the observer. They concluded that the object's luminosity and specific maneuvers were inconsistent with known aircraft, rockets, or natural phenomena, and they concurred with the witness's assessment that the object was under intelligent control.
