Project 10073 Record Card — South Weymouth, New Jersey, 5 December 1957

On 5 December 1957, at 2230Z, a tower operator at the South Weymouth Tower in New Jersey observed three unidentified objects. The witness described the objects as icy blue-white in color and approximately the size of a basketball. The objects were seen traveling in a straight line from east to west, following one another, and remained visible for a duration of three minutes before fading out of sight. The observation was made using binoculars. The weather conditions at the time were reported as very clear. A formal report was filed by the 762nd ACWRON to various military commands, including the Air Defense Command at Ent Air Force Base and the Air Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The official conclusion reached by the evaluating agency was that the objects were likely aircraft lights, noting that there was significant air traffic in the general area of the observer. Despite the tower operator's initial uncertainty regarding the nature of the lights, the final assessment categorized the event as an observation of aircraft, possibly landing lights.
