Project 10073 Record Card — Sighting Report, 18 November 1957

This document consists of a Project 10073 record card and associated teletype correspondence regarding a UFO sighting reported on November 18, 1957. A civilian witness in North Santa Monica, California, observed a single, spherical, silver-gray object, approximately the size of a grapefruit, with blades underneath. The object was observed for two minutes as it moved in a curved flight pattern over the ocean toward the southwest. The report notes that the weather was clear at the time of the sighting. The investigating officer, an Air Surveillance Officer from the 751st ACWRON, concluded that the sighting was likely a sun reflection off a circling aircraft. This conclusion was supported by the observation that the area is home to one of the busiest airports in the world, resulting in high air traffic density. The documentation includes technical details such as elevation and azimuth readings, and confirms that no radar contact was made and no photographs were taken. The report was forwarded to the Air Tech Intelligence Center for evaluation.
