Project 10073 Record Card — Milroy, Indiana, 15 November 1957

On November 15, 1957, at approximately 5:30 PM, a civilian witness in Milroy, Indiana, observed an unidentified aerial object. The witness, who was with his wife and later reported the incident to the Air Force, described the object as a large, white-hot ball of fire, approximately six feet in diameter, traveling at a tremendous rate of speed. The object moved parallel to the earth, traveling from an easterly direction toward the southwest. According to the witness, the object emitted sparks and appeared to disintegrate completely after passing by. The entire observation lasted only a few seconds. The witness noted that the object appeared to be at least 50 times larger than a falling star. The report was subsequently filed as an Air Intelligence Information Report by Lt. Col. William H. Parrott of the Air Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC). The witness also mentioned that he had contacted a 'Seargent Meadows' and the local newspaper, the Rushville Republican, regarding the sighting. The official evaluation provided on the Project 10073 record card concludes that the object was likely a meteor or fireball.
