This document is a Project 10073 record card and associated military correspondence detailing a UFO sighting reported on 6 November 1957 in North Vassalboro, Maine. A civilian witness reported observing a single, white, round object, approximately the size of a baseball, which appeared to look like a star. The observation lasted between 20 and 25 minutes before the object disappeared behind a cloud. The witness, a clerk, was scanning the sky for low-flying aircraft at the time of the sighting, which occurred at 2125Z. The report includes technical data regarding weather conditions, noting scattered visibility and winds from the west-northwest. Military personnel, specifically S/Sgt Hack of the 654th ACWRON and S/Sgt Hammond of the 32nd CADD, were involved in the processing of the report. The official conclusion reached by the Air Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC) was that the object was the planet Venus, as confirmed by an astronomical plot that placed the planet in the reported location and trajectory.
