PROJECT 10073 RECORD CARD - PASO ROBLES, CALIFORNIA

This document consists of a Project 10073 record card and associated teletype reports regarding two sightings of an unidentified aerial object near Paso Robles, California, on August 29 and 30, 1957. The reports were filed by Ground Observer Corps (GOC) personnel stationed at a post located at the Paso Robles Boys School, a corrective institution. The first sighting, reported by Jerry Bunting, described a silver, circular object moving from north to west for a duration of four minutes. The second sighting, reported by Leroy Taylor, described a silver sphere the size of a baseball at arm's length, moving in a spinning motion toward the northwest for 30 seconds. The official evaluation of these reports is that they are unreliable. This conclusion is supported by remarks from Captain Barlow of the 4771st GOC Squadron, who noted that the post had a history of submitting 'prankish reports.' Furthermore, the observers were noted to be young, and their reliability was questioned by the reporting officers. Despite the skepticism, the reports were processed through military channels, including the 669th ACWRON and the Air Technical Intelligence Center, as part of standard UFO reporting procedures.
