This document consists of a Project 10073 record card and an accompanying teletype report regarding an Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon (UFOB) sighting on August 4, 1956, near Delamero, North Dakota. A civilian witness reported observing a single, silver, dome-shaped object, described as being larger than a basketball, for a duration of forty-four minutes. The object was observed rising slowly toward the west. The report, filed by the 739th ACWRON in Wadena, Minnesota, notes that the observation was made under clear weather conditions with broken clouds. The teletype report, filed under AFR 200-2, provides additional details, including the location of the observer at HB 5196, 63 miles southwest of Fargo, North Dakota, and the time of the sighting as 1726Z. The official conclusion reached by the evaluating agency, ATIC, was that the sighting conformed to the criteria for a weather balloon. This determination was supported by the fact that a weather balloon was confirmed to be in the area at the time of the observation. The director on duty concurred with the reporting officer's assessment that the object was a balloon.
