This document is a Project 10073 record card detailing a sighting that occurred in Rialto, California, on July 30, 1956, at 0525Z. A civilian witness reported observing a single object for a duration of two to five minutes. The witness described the object as having no discernible shape and being smaller than a dime in size. The object was initially bright yellow and subsequently turned bright red, exhibiting violent turning maneuvers within a very small area. The observer briefly left the scene to check their car radio to see if others were observing the object, but upon returning, the object was gone. The official conclusion reached by the investigating authorities was that the sighting was likely caused by car headlights on a mountain road or crest. This determination was supported by the reporting officer, Captain U. D. Balter, who noted that vehicle lights in that specific mountainous terrain are very noticeable at night.
