PROJECT 10073 RECORD CARD — Aberdeen, Washington, 22 July 1955

This document consists of a Project 10073 record card and an associated teletype report regarding an Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UFOB) sighting that occurred on July 22, 1955, in Aberdeen, Washington. The report was filed by the 635th ACWRON at McChord Air Force Base in accordance with Air Force Regulation 200-2. The sighting involved a single, white, balloon-shaped object, estimated to be the size of a medicine ball, observed at an altitude of approximately 10,000 feet. The object was seen by two witnesses, a civilian woman and S/Sgt Norman Peterson of Detachment 1, 4770th GIS, Seattle. The witnesses reported the object was bobbing and floating toward the south for a duration of one minute. The weather was reported as clear. The official conclusion reached by the evaluating authorities was that the object was, in all probability, a balloon. This assessment was supported by the observation that there were numerous balloon launching sites in the vicinity, particularly to the north of the sighting location. The report explicitly states that an AF Form 112 would not be submitted for this incident.
