This document comprises a Project 10073 record card and associated intelligence reports regarding a sighting of an unidentified flying object on the night of 27 April 1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The witness, a member of the Ground Observer Corps and an administrative clerk at the Philco Corporation, observed the object for approximately 50 minutes while on duty at the Bryn Mawr Hospital. The witness described the object as a bright light that changed shape from round to cigar-shaped and then to a boomerang shape. He noted that the object appeared to hover and pivot, and at one point, he believed he saw a ray of light shoot out from it. The object's color shifted between white, red, and green. The witness reported the sighting to the Trenton Filter Center, though other posts in the area were unable to confirm the observation. The Air Force conducted an investigation, interviewing the witness on 28 April 1955. Meteorological data provided by the U.S. Weather Bureau was also collected. The official conclusion reached by the Air Technical Intelligence Center was that the object was the planet Jupiter, which was in the reported position at the time of the sighting. The report notes that no further investigation was deemed necessary by the 5th District Office of Special Investigations, and the case was closed under the provisions of Air Force regulations.
