Project 10073 Record Card — Sighting of 3 March 1955

This document consists of a series of military teletype messages and a Project 10073 record card documenting UFO sightings reported in New York City on March 3, 1955. The reports describe two distinct but related observations. In the first instance, a housewife and two Marines observed a white, flickering, oval-shaped object near the George Washington Bridge. The object was estimated to be the size of a baseball held at arm's length and appeared to move at approximately 170 miles per hour. A second report, involving an observer named Erma Wienert, described an egg-shaped white object, ten inches in diameter, observed over the Hudson River vicinity near the George Washington Bridge. The military investigation, coordinated through CONTHREE and the 26th Air Division, involved cross-referencing these reports with observations from an Air Force pilot. The official conclusion reached by the Air Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC) was that the sightings were not anomalous, but rather the result of searchlight activity reflecting off a cloud layer in the area. The documentation includes the original teletype communications between military commands, including CONAD and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and the standardized record card used for tracking these incidents under Project 10073.
