PROJECT 10073 RECORD - 7 October 1954

This document is a Project 10073 record concerning a UFO sighting reported on 7 October 1954 near Oahu, Hawaii. A civilian witness reported observing two bright, star-like objects. According to the report, one object joined the other, and they proceeded to fly in a northwesterly direction. The witness noted that the rear object in the formation displayed blinking lights, and no sound was heard during the observation. The objects were observed climbing from two degrees above the horizon to three degrees before disappearing. The report includes coordinates for the sighting at 21-35N 158-17W. Following the initial report, military authorities conducted an investigation. Communication with local radio stations and military units confirmed that there was local jet aircraft activity in the area during the time of the sighting. Consequently, the official conclusion reached by the intelligence division was that the objects were local jet aircraft engaged in routine operations. The report explicitly states that there was no physical evidence, no photographs, and no radar contact associated with the incident. The weather conditions at the time were reported as 15 miles visibility with 2500 feet scattered clouds.
