Project 10073 Record — Winslow, Arizona, 21 September 1954

This document consists of a Project 10073 record and associated teletype communications regarding an unidentified aerial phenomenon observed on September 21, 1954. The incident involved a white object emitting light from its rear, which was sighted by the crews of both a Western Air Lines flight and an American Air Lines flight. The Western Air Lines crew reported the object six minutes east of Winslow, Arizona, at 0521M, noting it was heading east at an altitude of approximately 20,000 feet, flying north of Green Airway Number Four. The object remained visible for about 30 seconds before disappearing to the east. Simultaneously, the American Air Lines flight, located over St. George, Utah, at 0521M, reported seeing the same object heading approximately 150 degrees from St. George. Additional teletype information mentions a reddish-orange object sighted west of the St. George (SGU) area on the horizon, appearing to be separated from the main body by a couple of hundred feet. The official conclusion recorded on the project form is that there was insufficient data for a formal evaluation of the sighting.
